How to Apply
The method of applying has changed. All applications are now dealt
with centrally by the National Recruitment Office for General Practice Training:
www.gprecruitment.org.uk
The stages of the application process are:
- Completion of on-line application form
- Applicants successful at the long-listing stage are invited to
attend the Stage 2 Assessment which consists of two papers completed
under invigilated conditions. The two papers are centred on
Clinical Problem Solving and Professional Dilemmas
- Candidates are then invited to attend a Selection Centre dependent on
their Stage 2 assessment score, geographical preference and availability of
places. At the Selection Centre you will be asked to undertake a
series of exercises observed by trained assessors. The exercises
undertaken are a simulated patient consultation, a group exercise and a
written exercise. No interviews are held.
- Successful candidates will be allocated to programmes depending upon
their performance at the Selection Centre, the training programme required
and the availability of vacancies.
